There is a lot to be said about a healthy debate, but I am not kidding myself about the nature of this one. Fact is, what is being debated here is my rights. Your rights. Our rights are not supposed to be debatable.

That was the whole point of the Bill of Rights.

Certain enumerated Rights were to be protected even from the tyranny of a majority opinion. Protections that could not be voted away by an act of Congress, because these Rights were not derived from Congress, but from our Creator and as such are unalienable.
