This is a scene from John Sayles' great movie 'Matewan.'
Prior to the big-business cronies in the government hiring their own mercenaries -- the FBI, IRS, DHS etc -- to molest citizens, "detectives" were the federal violence pawns.
Unfortunately, for meddling with their "business," this clip's hero, Sheriff Sid Hatfield, was soon murdered by criminal thugs from the Baldwin-Felts Agency.
